Artwork Guidelines
ColorBurst can develop your project from concept to printed piece, or we can help you select the best products to showcase the artwork you supply. Following are guidelines to keep in mind when submitting your own artwork and placing an order. All artwork, including artwork for repeat orders, must be approved prior to production.
ColorBurst's art department uses the Adobe Creative Suite, CS5. Customer supplied artwork that is submitted as print ready, will be handled free of charge. If supplied artwork is not print ready, art department fees may be applied. Artwork submitted as Word documents, PowerPoint and other non-graphic programs will not be accepted as final/print ready artwork. Corel Draw (.cdr) and Freehand (.fh) files are not supported.
Please feel free to contact our art department with any questions: art@cburst.com
Vector Graphics
Vector art is non-resolution dependent. Vector graphics can be resized easily without losing image quality. Spot color illustrations and text often work best when created using vector graphics software like Adobe Illustrator. If you do not have access to Adobe Illustrator, try using open source software like Inkscape or Draw (Draw is part of OpenOffice.org's office software suite). Acceptable File Extensions: .eps .ai .pdf .svg .odg
Tips for Creating Usable Vector Art
- Convert all text to outlines.
- All spot colors MUST be specified as Pantone® (PMS) Solid Uncoated.
Raster Graphics
Raster art is resolution dependent. Resizing raster artwork will directly affect image quality. Size increases will lower resolution and create jagged (pixelated) edges. Low resolution images will appear pixelated when printed. Photographic images and photographic illustrations that will be printed as CMYK, simulated process, or CMYK plus spot color are generally created using raster graphics software like Adobe Photoshop. If you do not have access to Photoshop , try using open source software like GIMP. Photographic images and photographic illustrations may require film separations. Acceptable File Extensions: .psd .tiff .jpg
Tips for Creating Usable Raster Art
- Layered .psd files are strongly recommended. Each color needs to be on a separate layer.
- 72 dpi is NOT print quality - For best results, create artwork at a minimum of 300 dpi at final print size.
- Graphics and images pulled from a website will not be accepted as final/print ready artwork.
Imprint Sizes
Maximum screen printing area is 13” wide by 15” high per placement. Oversized prints and wrap-around designs will require multiple placements. Our standard art sizing for adult garments is 11” wide full front or full back, 3.5” wide for left or right chest, short sleeve imprint and leg imprint on shorts. Maximum full front or full back art sizing for women’s fitted garments, youth sizes, and most tote bags is 9” wide by 10” high.
Artwork Approval
All artwork, including artwork for repeat orders, must be approved prior to production. Customers may request a press proof before full production run. Please review your PO and artwork carefully. ColorBurst will complete the order according to the specifications outlined on the PO, using the artwork that has been approved by the customer. Once the final artwork has been approved, ColorBurst will not be held responsible for errors in artwork. Art charges exceeding $150.00 must be paid in full when final art is approved.
